In order for a Quote to appear on the customer screen all three of these elements needs to be aligned
Whether data is entered manually, or via a data exchange, unless all three of these elements are in place Kontainers will not return a Quote.
This mechanism gives Forwarders a very powerful mechanism for managing available Bookings. Administrators can set 'active' periods for rates meaning you control when customers can book on a list pre-defined From and To destinations mapped to your complete list of schedules.
In that way Customers are able to only book what you want them to book and when.
Calculating Surcharges in the Dynamic Booking engine
Kontainers dynamic booking engine is designed to be highly configurable and will aggregate tariff data in a way that allows maximum flexibility coupled with ease of use.
If you send your tariff data across via API or EDI (or enter the tariff and schedule data via our UI) you can enter multiple equipment surcharges with a Valid From and Valid To date against a particular Port Pair.
You can also chose to either add a set of single tariff entries with one surcharge per tariff applied to 1 piece of equipment, again for a specific date range. The Kontainers engine will calculate the separate tariffs and schedules across the port pair and display an aggregated set of charges and surcharges for the valid date range.
This method will also you set rates in advance and/or apply surcharges immediately across the who route and for all equipment types with one tariff entry on the Kontainers system.
Expiry of tariffs (and equipment surcharges)
One other feature available to the Administrators is the ability to set global, non-expiring FAK tariffs and surcharges - i.e. set a tariff per equipment type with no Expiry date.
In that way users can immediately set a rate manually via the Admin UI (or systematically) to apply a surcharge per equipment type that can be controlled separately to the standard surcharges.
An example of this use would be to apply e.g. an emergency bunker charge immediately across all equipment and you can leave with an 'open ended' expiry date until you decide to remove the surcharge (or you replace it with an updated data feed).
Spot Quote/Contract Rates
The flexibility of the Rate shown to the customer does not stop at FAK rates. Kontainers booking engine can process a set of rates based on Allocation and/or Contract Rate.
You can choose to allocate a specific spot rate per route per customer. This contract rate will be shown instead or the Spot Rate when the customer tries to make a booking for that route. This price can be a pre-defined number and types of equipment that cannot be edited. Users will still have the option to book equipment at your default FAK or Contract rate depending on your business requirements.
Spot Allocation and Instant Confirmation
The Kontainers Booking Engine also has the ability to offer equipment at a specific rate against a specific allocation rule e.g. "Allow customers book the next 100 Containers of this type on this route at $1000 and when this 100 Containers is booked, offer the customer the standard FAK rate instead".
The flexibility built into the booking engine can also be further customised into the UI workflow for Enterprise customers.
For example, "While we have remaining Allocation on this route, provide the Customers with an Instant Booking Confirmation".
